This candidate will be a member of Time Inc.'s Technology & ProductEngineering/Internet Operations team. The team’s primary responsibility is to support and administer the enterprise server farms that support such highly trafficed web sites such as People.com, Time.com and EntertainmentWeekly.com while maintaining the highest standards in reliability, scalability, security, performance and availability. The team’s duties include general Unix/Linux system administrative tasks, operating system and software release patching, partnering with hosting providers for hardware, software and network maintenance, application monitoring and disaster recovery planning. We are looking for a seasoned and energetic engineer who enjoys a fast-based environment and thrives on pushing the state of the art. As a member of our Site Reliability Engineering team, you will be responsible for the complete buildout, deployment, and ongoing management of a number of web sites and services. Working with your peers, you will design the hosting and system configuration, deploy the site or service, and then ensure all of the operational configurations are in place. Day to day, you will be the lead for the site or service, collaborating with the development teams, the other support teams, and the rest of the business to build and deploy new features, functions, and to respond to changes in scale, service, and performance. You will also work with the rest of your Engineering collegues to design new tools, develop and document best practices, and continue to drive down the costs of building and managing our portfolio of sites and services.
